ASEAN health advocates push for sustainable funding mechanisms for health promotion and tobacco control

(Hanoi -14 September 2010) - Tobacco control and other health advocates from no less than 15 countries around the Southeast Asian and Western Pacific regions, North America and Europe are in Hanoi, Vietnam today to September 16, 2010 for a regional workshop to strengthen capacity for health promotion and tobacco control through sustainable funding mechanisms such as dedicated tobacco taxes.

(Cha-Am, Thailand, 25th October 2009) On the occasion of the inauguration of the ASEAN Inter-Governmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), Solidarity for Asian Peoples Advocacy Task Force on ASEAN and Human Rights (SAPA TF-AHR), a coalition of more than 70 non-government organisations, reiterates its expectation that the Commission will be accountable, independent and effective in protecting and promoting human rights throughout the region.
