Suriyasai: Red shirts’ protests cannot be compared with yellow shirts’ justified actions

New Politics Party Secretary-General and PAD spokesperson Suriyasai Katasila says the red shirts’ protests at Rajprasong cause damage to the economy and society, and cannot be compared with the PAD protests which were justified.  Calling on Abhisit to take legal action, he is concerned that Bangkokians will take things into their own hands.

PAD protest on Rama I Rd, in front of Siam Square and Siam Paragon (adjacent to the Rajprasong Intersection), on 29 March 2006

According to ASTV-Manager, Suriyasai said that the red shirts’ closure of the Rajprasong intersection was meant to pressure society rather than the government, because it damaged the economy and society.  But this cannot be compared with the PAD protests, which were in a different context.  The PAD’s actions were justified, as Thaksin’s nominee governments were illegitimate and unacceptable.

‘There’s no victory in sight for the red shirts’ protests now.  Their leaders are just pleasing themselves by venting anger for the big boss, being aggressive, making disturbances and threatening society.  I don’t believe that this will lead to victory.  Having occupied the Rajprasong intersection, the leaders might be perplexed as to what to do next.  [From Monday on,] the red-shirt leaders will be under stress, because Bangkokians might seek ways to let out their frustrations.  This is worrying.  It’s no use for red-shirt leaders to distort facts to attack the PAD.  And what do they want from the PAD?  The PAD is not the government.  Their relentless attacks against the PAD now reflect the ‘Wengness’ of the leaders who are implanting bias and hatred, not knowledge and understanding, among the masses,’ Suriyasai said.

He warned the red-shirt leaders and the Pheua Thai Party, as ‘the owner of the mob’, that victory achieved with hatred never lasted long. And they should not hope ever to come back to rule Thailand after a House dissolution, because people who feel that they gained power through making threats have the right to oust them.  The Thai Rak Thai and Palang Prachachon parties were governments but they could not rule, because they lacked legitimacy.

The facts about the PAD’s protests, especially the seizures of Government House and the airports, have been distorted.  The PAD, in fact, did not close down Suvarnabhumi Airport; it was ordered closed by Serirat Prasutanont, Director of the Suvarnabhumi Airport Authority, an action suspected to be malfeasance.  Serirat is a relative of UDD leader Veera Musigapong, Suriyasai said.

He said Abhisit and the government should not let the situation take its own course and always be on the defensive.  That would encourage the protesters to continue to harass the public.

‘The government has to stop its divide and rule practices.  Don’t let the people feel so distrustful to the point that they have to do things on their own.  The government has to take all legal measures [..] to cope with the unrest.  Now people are beginning to say they hate Thaksin and are bored with Abhisit.’

This PAD spoke person is

This PAD spoke person is really imaginative. PAD did not force the close down of the airport in 2008, it the director that order the closure. What the hell is he talking here? His comment sound more like coming from a brain of a retarded child.

A threat of PAD violence directed at Red Shirts...

The PAD’s actions were justified, as Thaksin’s nominee governments were illegitimate and unacceptable.

The government's protested by the PAD and eventually overthrown by Military-Judicial Coup were the governments elected by the people of Thailand.

The government protested by the Red Shirts, which will eventually be overthrown, is the government installed by Military-Judicial Coup.

Yes, you have no bananas... Yes, there is no comparison...

‘...Don’t let the people feel so distrustful to the point that they have to do things on their own...’

The threat of PAD violence against the Red Shirts is repeated...

This "news" item is 100% congruent with the PAD position, as endlessly stated.

We could have written it ourselves.

Nice try Suyiasai, The people

Nice try Suyiasai,
The people of Thailand (the downtrodden as well) are not as stupid as you would hope. One of the main reasons the Reds are protesting is because the Yellows showed them they can get away with it without consequence. If Sondhi
was in jail now for his appalling actions and Kasit was not the FM. Abhisit
might have had a chance to sway the Reds. As it's been standing and brewing for years, what do you expect. The PAD is a fascist group. They will say and do anything to keep their positions intact, period.

Suriyasai, may I ask you what

Suriyasai, may I ask you what you have been smoking lately ? Whatever PAD did (closing the airports, etc, am fed up to mention the others because it is so obvious) was justified and everything else you did was legal while whatever the red shirts do are wrong. I advise you Suriyasai who don't you come to Rajprasong and tell the reds that they are wrong !

So the PAD did not take over

So the PAD did not take over the airport? OK. But they assaulted several people there (and left behind a dead body) and abducted at least two police officers. Several of these actions were photographed or videotaped, so they are not even a matter for debate. Last I heard those matters constituted crimes. Anyone punished for that? Suriyasai clearly thinks people are too stupid to remember.

he is just trying to tell us

he is just trying to tell us that he did not close the airport, the airliners dont dare to fly itself so not his fault.+?><:"{s.o.b}P":{?>>>?"{{"?

Malfeasance, eh? How about

Malfeasance, eh? How about the cunning overreaction of the owners of those yuppie malls around the current demonstration? (Lets close the doors, tell the world we're losing billions per day, & blame the Reds. The yellows will REALLY hate them if they can't go shopping!) Every time I've been past it's looked to be dead easy to get access to Paragon, etc., from the BTS & the rear driveway. I've had to hurry through the demonstrators a few times in various places, & nobody has obstructed me - of course I wasn't being hostile.

Seems to me the airport demo was really dangerous (see Fred) with all those pathetic, self - righteous, & genuinely violent, Yellow idiots in charge. Whereas there has been no violence from the Reds, & indeed they have been very cheery & friendly. In fact, who was that stupid brat who rammed his porsche into the motorcycles? Was he a Red, or a limp-brained, over-indulged, dumb-arsed smug, spoilt,Yellow boy-bitch no-hoper, throwing a tizz because he couldn't meet his flaky friends for brunch?

In a way I like the fact that he did it; it's a wonderfully iconic symbol of the degenerate, inbred state of mind of the poo yai (more 'poo' than 'yai' I'd say!)in this Land of Smiles. The great thing is that there are really good photos, including one of a cop holding up the Glock. It has all the makings of the mythic "Let them eat cake!" Do you think his insurance will pay up? Hope not...som nam na! Do you think he'll be charged?

"implanting bias and hatred,

"implanting bias and hatred, not knowledge and understanding"?

Have you checked the mirror lately, Khun Suriyasai? If that's too much to ask, you might care to consider the daily distortions, hate-mongering, fear-mongering and invective that pour out of ASTV/Manager. Fix your own disorders and delusions before you raise your voice about those of others - and, please, put at least a little bit of effort into not showing yourself up to be such a blatant hypocrite..... this stuff of yours is just an insult to the intelligence.

Same old tired PAD script about the airport closure - the one repeatedly wheeled out by PAD's troupe of apologists in the Bangkok Post forums and the "useful idiots" on ThaiVisa.

The essence of the PAD approach is in the giveaway sentence: "And they should not hope ever to come back to rule Thailand after a House dissolution, because people who feel that they gained power through making threats have the right to oust them." Put more briefly: "Never mind your election - we'll get you out our way".

The Red Shirts don't want

The Red Shirts don't want your sympathy for their simply ways. They want empathy for their plight. You cry over a 500 baht payment for their vote, but don't care if they have to live on 8000 Baht annually. If you were in their place, you would vote with your stomach also. If they really wanted to hurt you all they would have to do is say we starve, you starve too. Grow only enough food for themselves and say to you. Figure out your own problems. You would beg them for 5000 or more Baht for a Kg of rice. Stop being so damn greedy and help your brothers and sisters. Only when you give them hope and a place at the table will Democracy really take hold in Thailand.

Good idea! They can wage a

Good idea! They can wage a Ghandi-style revolution. Grow stick rice only this year and save it to feed themselves. Grow no hom mali rice for export. The fat cats that exploit them by paying very little for the hom mali rice and then make huge profits on the backs of the poor farmers would be much more willing to negotiate a power sharing deal after that. Either that or they would become more violent than they already have demonstrated they can be.

The rule of the "elite" is an

The rule of the "elite" is an economic arrangement based upon the least profit for the smallest number. It makes a few people rich but it is a deplorably iniquitous and inefficient system that is laying waste the nation and the people.

The poor, craven "middle classes" don't or won't see this and so stand on the bodies of their neighbors in an effort to approach "elite" status.

But the system as is will only serve a tiny minority and that minority has bolted the door and is ready to kill any and everyone who seeks admission to power in Thailand.

The "middle classes" should be embrace their pi-nong, make common cause with them and all together seek the greatest profit for the greatest number of Thais.

But the poor "middle classes" seduce themselves with the tawdry "glamour" of the "elite". The billboard of the Louis Vuitton handbag over the Redshirts camped in the street is emblematic of their delusions.

A slave who's managed to put together enough money to buy a Louis Vuitton handbag is still a slave.
