The Southeast Asian Press Alliance in cooperation with The Press Council of Thailand, Thai Journalists Association, Thai Broadcast Journalists Association and Thai Media Policy Center, Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University, will organize a public forum on “The Thai Media in Times of Conflict: A Reflection One Month Following Thailand’s Political Turmoil”.
The forum will be held on 30 June 2010, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Kamolmart Room, Sixth Floor of the Siam City Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.
The forum is intended to foster a better understanding of the role of media in times of crisis and conflict situations. Discussions will be conducted in Thai. Simultaneous translation to and from English will be provided to a limited number of attendees.
Speakers will include Thai and foreign experts on media in conflict situations. A foreign correspondent who covered Thailand’s political turmoil will share the experience of trying to cover the recent crisis in the face of violence, harassment, risk, and official restrictions on press freedom.
The organizers invite the public to join this forum.
